You'll reach the top of Saarua with your sleds aboard the scenic Village‑2‑Valley gondola, and you can enjoy unlimited runs between 19:30 and 21:30. Our cabin is equipped with two Stiga SX sleds, shown in the picture, which you are welcome to use. This way, you can skip rental fees and avoid waiting in line.

Ruka's Hiking Trails and Sights

Karhunkierros (The Classic Trail)

Finland's most famous hiking route leads you through dramatic gorges, roaring rapids, and ancient forests. The atmosphere is truly wilderness‑like and at times impressively rugged. The difficulty level ranges from intermediate to demanding: long daily distances and steep climbs require good basic fitness. The trail is best hiked during the snow‑free season, from late May to October.

Pieni Karhunkierros (The Gem of Day Hikes)

This 12‑kilometre loop showcases the very best of the Karhunkierros in a single day: suspension bridges, foaming rapids, and lush spruce forests. The atmosphere is adventurous, yet the trail is well marked and suitable for active families. The difficulty level is moderate, with some elevation changes and root‑covered paths, but plenty of rest spots along the way. The best time to visit is from May to October.

Ruka's Peaks and Scenic Routes

The trails and service roads leading to Ruka's summits offer easily accessible, breathtaking views over the fells and vast forest landscapes. The atmosphere is open and airy, especially at sunset. The difficulty level varies: in summer, you can also reach the top by lift or car, making the area suitable for visitors of many fitness levels. The best time to visit is from summer to autumn, though winter lifts and snow trails provide equally impressive scenery.
